I've made one-word resolutions for the last three years. In 2009 it was grace; in 2010 it was self-control; in 2011 is was humility. Leading up to choosing the one word, I prayed and examined myself for weak areas. Each year, God has taught me so much through life lessons and as I studied passages on my focus word.
I'm still praying about my one word for 2012, and I'm looking forward to new lessons God will teach me.

I love praying for and choosing a one-word focus last year. It was "serve" (or "humbly serve") for 2011. I'm praying still for this year, but I think it came to me just today.
