Red White and Blue Decorating

from myhomeideas.com

Now that the weather is warming up and the spring flowers have faded, it's time to put away the spring decor in our homes and turn our attention to something more summer-y. (Is summer-y a word?) Summer decorating can go many different ways, but I am always drawn to red, white and blue.

Patriotic colors are perfect for summer. Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer for many. June 6th is the anniversary of D-Day. Flag Day is not far behind (June 14th). And, of course, July 4th is the big bash of the summer. So, why not just decorate with red, white and blue?

Turn your bedroom in to a patriotic escape with red, white and blue quilts and pillows. Check local thrift stores and garage sales for these types of seasonal items.

I love these easy to make centerpieces! They can go inside and out. Your kids can even help you make them!

Grab some galvanized buckets from the hardware store and add red, white and blue paint or glue paper decorations on the side. Use them as planters or to hold other summer items.

Turn your dining table into a patriotic feast for the eyes. There are so many creative ways to do this. Try a red table cloth or table runner. Top with plain white dishes. (I found some cheap at Ikea and a local thrift store.) Add flowers, candles or a  kids patriotic craft. (We are going to try the painted cans from grandparents.com.)

Nothing is better than a flag flying from your front porch.

Have fun and be festive this summer! What is your favorite red, white and blue home decor?
