Lee and I have been married six and a half years, and I'm still learning how to show him love! We have different temperaments, personalities, strengths, weaknesses, hobbies, "love languages," and even favorite restaurants! So when thinking about what makes him feel loved, I have to get past what
I think makes him feel loved, and
ask him.
So let's do a little experiment! I'm going to list five things I can do or already do that show him love. Then I'll ask him for his list of five. Let's see how close I get!
My list:
- Stay off the computer when he's home
- Get dressed each day (not dressed up, just dressed!)
- Put his laundry away (I've resisted this for six and a half years so far!)
- Watch one of his favorite shows with him
- Don't cook broccoli
His list (he says I already do the first three, and could do more of numbers 4 & 5):
- Proof read for him
- Cook good food
- Take good care of the boys at home every day
- Kiss more
- Laugh more at his jokes!
Looks like I have my work cut out for me! What do you think your husband would say if you asked him how you could show him love?
My list would probably be simiar Sandra. I'm inspired to ask him the same thing...but a little afriad at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI am SO going to do this, Sandra! Thanks for the idea!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThis idea seems so simple, but yet we have never done this in our marriage! Maybe tonight!! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny that you put so much work on yours and he's answers are so laid back? You two sound like a sweet couple!
ReplyDeleteLOL on the broccoli. Mine likes it, but he can't stand the smell or taste of Brussels Sprouts. So I rarely make them, even if I do like them myself!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what he'd say that would make him feel more loved than he already is. But I'm pretty sure I've been doing it right, as we've been together (between dating and marriage) for nearly 40 years--and I'm still romantically in love with him. I do know that little things count, even something as simple as bringing him a cold drink when he's outside doing yard work in the heat. (Not that we remember what heat is around here--there's about 15 inches of snow on the ground.)
You are an adorable couple, and I bet that one day you'll be telling younger people about your own 40 years together!
Amanda- I noticed that too! I even gave him a couple hours to come up with his answers and that's what I got! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet that he wants to kiss more...awww...
