I've really been trying this year to make our bedroom feel more like a bedroom and less like a laundry room! Anyone else have that problem? The focal point of our room is usually the laundry hamper spilling out all over the floor!
For our anniversary in July I got a new duvet cover and sheets. It's softer and more romantic than our previous duvet cover (that I've had since before we were married). I made curtains for the windows from Dupioni silk I found on sale on-line. I even made a couple throw pillows that match the curtains and my mother-in-law bought us a candle holder and candle that go with our new leaf theme.
But all my work getting the bedroom to feel more comfortable and romantic is loosing the full effect because I do not make my bed every day (sorry Mom!). So I pledge each day in November to make my bed. It's a small thing I know will make a big difference in the look of our bedroom. I feel so good about it, I might even start today!
Anyone else have a small change you want to make for the 30 days of November you hope will make a big impact? Share your ideas with us throughout the week!

Okay, I'm in! Our bedroom is my favorite room ... I'll post pictures once I get it clean!! LOL But I also fail to make the bed. So, I gladly volunteer to join you in this bed-making-challenge!!
ReplyDeleteSandra, I have to agree with you. Making the bed every morning makes the overall feeling of the room much better. It makes getting into bed at night cozier too.
ReplyDeleteI need to make that pledge too. It seems when you have a door to close it just doesn't seem to happen.
ReplyDeleteI make my bed everyday but only because I need a clean flat surface to fold laundry. So I'll tweak the goal fit my situation by saying I will have the bed cleaned off by 9pm everyday in Nov. That way we can actualy get in the bed. Is that ok...
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to think on that one...I just read an article yesterday about how making SMALL changes leads to BIG changes and you're more likely to actually keep up with them. So I'm going to choose wisely for this first small change! (And btw--I'm all about having a made bed, but James and Kayci are NOT...so now we have a family rule that we make our beds every weekday but NOT on the weekend unless we know we're going to have company. And everyone's happy!)
ReplyDeleteI love the bed making idea, but thankfully, my hubby makes the bed every day! I'm so thankful for him. Now I'll have to really think about what I can do every day for the month. I'm interested to see what everyone else posts this week. :)
ReplyDeleteYour bed look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy small change...I'm still thinking...
I was thinking about our comforter just earlier today. It is 9 years old. Maybe one day we can get something a bit more romantic and then I will make my bed everyday. Having it made makes me feel like my room is clean though.
ReplyDeleteI have to think of something else because I am already a chronic bed maker. It's almost impossible for me to NOT make the bed.
ReplyDeleteWhen I learned that critters ike dust mites thrive in warm places like beds that are made as soon as you leave them, I had to change my habit and make the bed later in the day, and it was HARD, I tell you, HARD! But the bed is made long before our next bedtime.
I also agree that it makes a better surface for folding laundry that way too.
It's so funny to read your post. I have fought making the bed for years, and in the past few months have gotten into the habit. I just said to my husband last week that even though he could never tell my mom, she was right - I love coming upstairs at night to a made bed! :)
ReplyDeleteI usually try to make my bed every morning. It's funny - if I happen to be home for the day it's easy to let it go, but if I'm leaving the house I can't leave with it unmade. Weird... I like what I can see of your bedroom color palette. Very pretty and serene.

my first visit to your site was Oct 31, and I wanted to comment that my bedroom is a laundry room, too, and I will join you for the month of november in the bed making daily challenge!
