Wednesday with a 7 Week Old

4:10 am--I hear Dietrich waking up, so figure it's time for him to eat. He last ate at 11. We go back to sleep at 4:37, but I can still hear him making a few noises.
7:22--Ben gets out of bed to get ready for work, so Dietrich also thinks it's time to get up and eat. I put him in bed next to me at 7:30 and he falls back asleep shortly.
9:25--Dietrich wakes me up ready to eat, so I bring him to the den. I watch Regis and Kelly while he eats and I also check my blogs and e-mail.
10:05--Bath time! I forgot that I left the sprayer on yesterday, so I soak most of the bathroom when I turn on the water! Dietrich loves to splash in the bath. He's extra smiley today which is so adorable. He pees as soon as he gets in the bath. I let him splash a little too long because he gets a little grumpy. When I get him out and dry him off, he pees all over himself, so I wipe him off with the washcloth, lotion him up and put his clothes on.
10:35--I check e-mail and blogs after he falls asleep in my arms and then I move him to his crib. He seems to not be bothered, even though this is just the 4th time he has been in his crib!
11:00--I hop in the shower. We hardly ever get anything done before lunch!
11:30--I hear Dietrich waking up, but I still have a few things I need to do! I do my hair, get dressed and put up yesterday's laundry that was left on the couch last night.
11:45--He's in the swing while I straighten up and listen to the Bonny Hunt Show. I was hoping to get more work done before he was ready to eat again, but...
12:00--Time for Dietrich's lunch! I check the internet while he eats and we listen to Martha.
1:00--My lunch time (PB&J sandwich, chips and salsa and yogurt). Ben calls right when I sat down to eat. Nothing is on TV at 1, so Tyra is on in the background. We don't have cable, so we only have the shows that come over the antenna (about 7 English ones).
1:20--Dietrich falls asleep, so I take him to his crib and watch him on the video monitor while I'm straightening up things around the house.
2:05--He starts waking up, so I go try to get him to go back to sleep by giving him his pacifier.
2:30--I bring him to the den after he does not fall back asleep. I put him on the couch on an old blanket and he sneezed about 10 times in a row and had red eyes, so I threw the blanket in the laundry and hold him.
2:50--He gets to eat again, but is so sleepy he keeps falling asleep until 3:40. He then sat on the couch propped up by a pillow while I wrapped Christmas presents.
3:53--He falls asleep until 4:19. I sit him up on the couch while I work on emptying out a box that my parents sent from my old room when they moved.
4:30--It's our first time outside today! We went to the mailbox which was still empty, so we brought in the trash cans. I continue going through the box (mostly of old notes from class and homework) while he swings.
4:45--I look up an old friend I found a picture of in the box on facebook. No luck as it's hard to find girls on there because of name changes! The swing has lost its charm, but I still need a few minutes.
5:00--I get Dietrich out of the swing who has been griping for about 15 minutes that he wanted to be held (I assume). He bangs his head on my collar bone and starts to cry hard...real tears! He is soon over this as we head out to get the mail since it has arrived!
5:05-5:30--I check the internet while he eats.
5:45--Ben calls and we figure out what we're going to have for dinner. Dietrich plays in his bouncy seat and I wrap the rest of the presents. The den is semi-clean.
6:00--Ben is home so we start dinner. Tilapia, shrimp, squash and bread. Ben also gets scallops.
6:20--Dinner time! I love quick fixes.
6:32--We work on the dishes together and then Ben heads in to hold Dietrich (who lasted a long time in his bouncy seat). We talk for a little while.
7:00--Dietrich falls asleep and Night Rider is the only thing on that looks decent. It doesn't even look that great, so I get on my computer and Ben checks his e-mail.
7:21--Dietrich is awake--are you noticing a pattern here?? Ben holds his pacifier in his mouth while he keeps checking e-mail and I write on the blog. Dietrich is in and out of sleep.
8:00--I feed Dietrich while we watch Monarchy-The Royal Family at Work on PBS.
8:30--Ben gets diaper duty and makes us a popcorn snack while I hold Dietrich.
9:00--Dietrich falls asleep and I talk to a lady on the phone about an Usborne booth for Thursday night. I met her on Monday, so this is very last minute!
9:45--Dietrich wakes up when I lay him on the couch so I can finish my post.
10:15--I head to the bathroom to get ready for bed so I can feed Dietrich while Ben gets ready.
11:00--We'll all be in our beds getting ready to fall asleep (I hope).

Today Dietrich is 8 weeks old! Such a big boy. He doesn't always have such short naps. On Monday, he literally slept all day long, only waking up to eat. He sleeps best when he's being held or when he's in the car. Tomorrow we're going to run some errands and buy the stuff needed to make this for dinner with turkey breast and baked sweet potatoes (to prepare for Thanksgiving). I'm testing the recipe! (We normally get out at least once per day so I don't get cabin fever, but it just didn't work out today!)
