Last year we were able to host family members in our home for Thanksgiving. I usually am not the hostess therefore decorations were not on the forefront of my mind. (And, I am not one for seasonal decorations 1) they are not out very long, 2) I would rather spend money on things that are out all year, and 3) I have no place to store them.) At the last minute (I think it was actually on Thanksgiving morning) I decided I needed some decorations for our little table. FamilyFun magazine is a great resource for quick and easy crafts/decorations. I did a little searching and found these napkin rings. Nothing too fancy, but they were cute and pretty easy to make.
This year I went searching for some other ideas of things to do, things a toddler can help with. LilE LOVES to paint. Can’t get enough of it. I just cringe, but I try to allow her to do the things that make her happy and put my cleanliness aside for a few minutes. These placemats look super easy and are practical. Since they are laminated, we can slide them in the bottom of a drawer and pull out again next year. (As a variation, we just went apple picking and can stamp with apples as well.)

This Turkey Table Topper is also cute and would allow creative juices to flow in my 2 ½ year old. I love that it is used for a bread basket so it is not wasting space on the table.

My favorite idea is the Thanksgiving Tablecloth. The table is covered with a tablecloth and each person writes what they are thankful for onto the cloth with the date. Each year the tablecloth is pulled out and family and friends are reminded of what they have been thankful for in past years and are able to add something new as well. What a blessing to remember what God has blessed us with year after year.

K, what really fun ideas! I am totally going to try the bread basket thing with the girls. They will love it!
